The grand opening of Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is in summer 2027.

August 4, 2026: From Sunrise Sips to Fireworks Views: New Spaces Coming to Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

There’s more magic happening along the shores of Bay Lake as Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge continues to take shape. Walt Disney Imagineers are hard at work designing new spaces where families and friends can gather, reconnect, and experience sunrise coffee, leisurely afternoons, and unforgettable nighttime views. Here is a first look at some of these exciting new venues guests can enjoy when the resort opens next summer.

Your Lakeshore Lodge Arrival

When guests arrive at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, they’ll step into the lobby and become immersed in the sights and sounds of nature. Spectacular floor‑to‑ceiling windows will welcome natural sunlight and showcase sweeping views of The Wetlands outdoor recreation area, allowing the local flora and fauna to flow seamlessly into the architecture, artwork, and ambiance.

Drawing inspiration from the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas, a shimmering fiberoptic river will illuminate the floor, while overhead, a blown glass Colors of the Wind sculpture with hundreds of suspended glass leaves will fill the space with movement, color, and wonder.

Natural materials will be incorporated throughout the lobby design, with custom tapestries inspired by the film’s landscapes and thoughtfully crafted furnishings with accents of river-recovered cypress wood.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will debut with three distinctive dining experiences for guests to enjoy throughout their stay. From convenient, grab-and-go favorites to memorable waterfront dining, each location is thoughtfully designed to highlight the resort’s connection to the natural beauty of Bay Lake.

Moonglade

Along the lakefront, Moonglade will offer an enchanting table-service dining experience where stunning water views are part of every course. Here, guests will enjoy thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Floor-to-ceiling windows will frame the gracefully arching cypress trees along Bay Lake where artful lighting and nuanced design reflect the interplay of light and shadow.

Bay Lake Provisions

Bay Lake Provisions will be the perfect spot to fuel up for a day of adventure or relax and refresh after a poolside afternoon. This all-day, quick-service marketplace will offer specialty coffees and fresh fare in an inviting open-kitchen atmosphere.

And because no space is complete without a little hidden magic, guests can find woodland critters inspired by beloved Disney classics throughout the space.

Paint Out Point Bar & Grill

When all the fun in the sun works up an appetite, guests can head to Paint Out Point Bar & Grill near Lakeshore Lagoon.

They can enjoy shareable bites and specialty beverages while soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds The Wetlands. Inspired by the art of plein-air painting, this pool bar will showcase a collection of original artwork created by Imagineers as they drew inspiration from the Bay Lake landscapes.

Dandelion Terrace

After the sun sets, guests can gather in Dandelion Terrace to see Magic Kingdom Park fireworks lighting up the sky over the waters of Bay Lake.

The lounge will be home to a two-story gallery of archival artwork from Disney classics like Fantasia, complete with whimsical dandelion light fixtures that add a touch of magic to the space. Soft lighting and sweeping views create the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy the nighttime spectacular.

Stay tuned as we continue to share more details about Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, projected to open in summer 2027 at Walt Disney World Resort.

June 17, 2026: First Look at The Wetlands at Disney Lakeshore Lodge

When Disney Lakeshore Lodge opens in summer 2027, guests will be invited to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature at The Wetlands, a sweeping outdoor recreation area just beyond the lobby that immerses guests in the beauty of Bay Lake.

The Wetlands will be thoughtfully designed with both fun and relaxation in mind. Younger guests will become part of nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas inspired by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Pocahontas.” Drawing from the lyrics “the heron and the otter are my friends” from the beloved song “Colors of the Wind,” these vibrant spaces will celebrate the playful connections found in nature.

Heron Shores will welcome exploration and hands‑on play with imaginative climbing features, while just around the riverbend, Otter Springs will come to life with interactive water features where little ones can cool off as they splash and slide. Nearby, the lazy Daydream River will invite guests to sit back and relax as the current carries them through the recreation area, offering a leisurely way to take in views of the surrounding landscape.

bcb4a730-3be1-4e7a-b497-348445ce4ffa.png

At the heart of The Wetlands will be Lakeside Lagoon, the resort’s zero‑entry feature pool where guests of all ages can come together under the Florida sun, complete with a spiral waterslide that leads into the refreshing water. Tucked away on the opposite side of the resort, Perspective Pond will be home to a leisure pool and whirlpool spa, perfectly positioned for views of Magic Kingdom fireworks in the evenings.

Whether your clients choose to start their morning with a peaceful float along the Daydream River or end the day watching the sun set over Bay Lake, each area of The Wetlands will offer a distinct connection to nature, balancing breathtaking beauty and tranquility with moments of discovery and play.

As guests make their way along a scenic path through the recreation area, they’ll uncover fun facts about the local flora and fauna that surrounds them. Keep an eye out for a special plaque that honors a beloved historic attraction that once stood on this very spot!

And best of all, the fun in the sun is just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom! Staying in the magic at a Disney World hotel means enjoying access to unique amenities, along with special benefits such as complimentary transportation across Walt Disney World Resort and extra time to enjoy the theme parks.

Stay tuned to Letters from Lakeshore on Disney Travel News for more details as Disney Lakeshore Lodge continues to take shape.

On select autumn nights, the sun sets over Cinderella Castle as Magic Kingdom park transforms into the center for all things spooky and fun. For those who yearn for ghastly vibes, it’s time to start planning their next night of magical frights. Today we’re sharing the 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates, when tickets go on sale, and a few details on what to expect at this year’s celebration.

What is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event that happens each year at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Offerings include exclusive entertainment, Halloween-themed food and beverages, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise, and character greetings.

Guests can expect a party that offers the ultimate family Halloween celebration: Show off their most creative Disney-themed costume and see the Headless Horseman stalk the streets. Gather candy around every corner, see their favorite rides get a little spookier — and maybe even run into a witch or three.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Dates

The 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates will run from August 7 to October 31. The party runs only on specific weekend or weekday nights, so be sure to consult the calendar of dates when planning a trip.

2026 Party Dates

  • August 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30
  • September 1, 4, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29
  • October 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31

Planning Tip: To help conjure your fiendish pursuits, note that in August, party dates occur on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This is also true for September with the addition of one Thursday date on September 24. In October, ghouls can descend upon Magic Kingdom every Thursday; most Fridays, Sundays, most Tuesdays; and Saturday on Halloween.

New and Returning Entertainment in 2026

Now that you’ve got the dates, here are a few sneak peeks at new and returning entertainment all around Magic Kingdom.

New this year, Stitch is hosting an ever-changing dance party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland with the help of his friends Lilo and Angel. After getting his paws on Lilo’s Costume Trunk, every accessory he tries on will spark a theme swap and keep the party playfully unpredictable all night long.

And, of course, a little spider told us that the Cadaver Dans will be back again this year to sing in soulful harmony.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Tickets

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket prices vary per date and will be available for purchase starting on May 5 for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green. Tickets will be available starting on May 12 for all other guests. Party dates often sell out, so our best tip is to plan early and purchase tickets in advance for your desired party date.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party Ticket discounts are once again available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members.

Planning Tip: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM before the party kicks off at 7:00 PM. This means guests have up to 8 hours to celebrate all across the park.

Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary

For some guests, Halloween dreams include a bag overflowing with candy. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of the best trick-or-treat destinations, with over a dozen opportunities to collect candy throughout the park, marked on guests' party map. And this year, guests can expect even more fun than ever before with some familiar (and fiendish) faces surprising guests along the trails.

At each stop, cast members give out handfuls of Mars Wrigley favorites like M&Ms, Snickers and Starburst. And no worries if guests' forgot their pumpkin bucket at home: Each guest will receive complimentary treat bags for candy collection (that includes adults).

Trick-or-treaters do not have to be in costume to collect candy. Guests are encouraged to dress up in creative Halloween costumes. Guests should be sure to follow official costume guidelines.

Exclusive Character Greetings

Guests can meet Sally and Jack Skellington at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at one of the many character stops that feature exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities. At Town Square Theater, Mickey and Minnie will greet guests together in their Halloween costumes. Pooh will be in his bumblebee costume, and you may spot festive royal couples ready to say hello, like Ariel and Eric and Aladdin and Jasmine.

Stay tuned for our complete guide on which characters guests can meet — and who will be in special festive attire.

For even more creepy character fun, guests should keep their eyes peeled because they may see new and returning Disney Villains appear as you creep by through the streets.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

It’s been three hundred years, right down to the day … or it seems that long since we’ve seen the Sanderson Sisters take the stage. This fan-favorite show is both hilarious and bone-chilling as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary try their haphazard best to cast a spell.

It turns out that they need a little help from their friends, who happen to be some of the most nefarious Disney Villains, including the likes of Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier, and The Evil Queen. Guests will help add ingredients to the cauldron with lots of clapping and singing along.

Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular

As the party creeps closer to the witching hour, guests are invited to a spooky story time with the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, who has transformed Cinderella Castle into a haunted house. Watch as Zero leads Mickey and Friends inside, where spiderwebs, skeletons, and Grim Grinning Ghosts await.

Dazzling projections will transform the castle into a spooky fantasy while the sky comes alive with fireworks. Get ready for towering encounters with Ursula, The Queen of Hearts, and Oogie Boogie. Will Mickey and Friends make it out of Jack’s haunted house this time?

Meet Bakari, the New Silverback Gorilla at Disney’s Animal Kingdom A new chapter is beginning on Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where Bakari, a 21-year-old male western lowland gorilla, is gradually settling into his new home and role as the leader of the park’s family troop.

A new chapter is beginning on Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where Bakari, a 21-year-old male western lowland gorilla, is gradually settling into his new home and role as the leader of the park’s family troop.

Bakari’s arrival marks an important milestone. For nearly three decades, the family group was led by Gino, our beloved silverback, who helped shape generations of gorillas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and beyond. Now, Bakari represents the next generation, and the beginning of an exciting new era for the troop.

“Bringing Bakari here is bittersweet because it means we’ve said goodbye to Gino, who was our silverback for almost 30 years since the park’s opening,” said Rachel, animal care manager with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment. “But it’s also incredibly exciting. Bakari is the future of this family troop, and we’re looking forward to watching him grow into that role and hopefully help welcome new generations of gorillas for years to come.”

A Careful Introduction & Building New Bonds

Of course, introducing a new member to the troop isn’t as simple as saying “welcome, Bakari.” Behind the scenes, animal care experts are guiding a carefully planned introduction process designed to help Bakari settle into his new home and allow him and the females time to build positive social relationships with each other.

Before arriving at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Bakari lived in a bachelor group at another Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited zoo, where he spent time socializing with other males. Joining a family troop is a natural experience for adult male gorillas, but the group needs time to settle into their new dynamic which is why introductions happen gradually.

First, the gorillas spend time seeing one another through a protected viewing area, allowing them to become familiar with each other while animal care experts closely monitor their interactions. As comfort levels grow, the introductions progress step by step, eventually allowing opportunities for touch and closer social interactions. Every milestone is guided by the expertise and observations of Disney’s animal care teams.

“This is all very new for Bakari,” Rachel explained. “Our goal is to help him feel comfortable and confident at every stage. We take the process slowly because building those social relationships with the females is incredibly important.”

This work is part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to exceptional animal care and is supported by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP), which helps maintain strong, genetically diverse populations of western lowland gorillas in managed care.

“Pairing Bakari with our females can help strengthen the long-term future of the population,” Rachel said. “That’s important because we want future generations to be able to connect with these animals and be inspired to help protect them.”

Getting to Know Bakari

While Bakari is still getting to know his new family troop, animal care experts are also learning more about his unique personality. So far, he’s shown a calm and easygoing demeanor, often taking time to quietly observe his surroundings as he settles into life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

One behavior that’s already becoming a favorite among his caretakers? Bakari loves to stretch out and lounge with his chin resting on his hand while taking in all the activity around him.

Fun Facts

  • The troop’s dominant silverback plays an important role in guiding and protecting the family, helping maintain a stable and cohesive dynamic.
  • Gorilla troops are built around strong family bonds, often made up of multiple females and their offspring, with a single dominant male at the center.
  • Within the troop, gorillas learn from one another through daily interactions, making each new introduction an important step in building those relationships over time.

For guests, that means even more to explore and discover along Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. As Bakari continues to settle into his new home, guests may begin to see him interacting with other members of the troop, offering a unique opportunity to observe these incredible animals up close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Bakari’s arrival also highlights the care, expertise, and science led by Disney’s animal care team to help protect this critically endangered species. Each step forward supports not only the wellbeing of the gorillas at Walt Disney World, but also broader conservation efforts to help gorillas thrive in the wild.

Welcome home, Bakari!

Your clients' favorite characters are ready for adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!

Here are insider tips for how they can find rare characters and experiences exclusive to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park!

How to Find Characters in the My Disney Experience App

Characters are easy to locate with the My Disney Experience app!

Just Follow These Simple Steps:

  • Click on the map pin at the bottom of the screen.
  • Swipe left at the top of the screen and choose Characters.
  • Click on Locations to select the desired theme park.
  • Find characters on the map or choose Show List at the bottom right.
  • By clicking on a character, guests can view the location and times the selected character will appear throughout the day.

Disney Character Experiences Exclusive to Animal Kingdom Theme Park

The Lion King Characters are Ready to Greet Guests at the Oasis

Guests might run into a wise mandrill or a certain meerkat who loves to hula. Rafiki is ready to show guests the way, and when he takes a break for his meditations, Timon steps in to keep the fun going. Guests might even be able to convince him to do a dance! Both characters begin greeting guests about an hour after park opening most days and rotate every 30 minutes.

Pocahontas is Just Around the Riverbend in the Oasis

For one the most unique character greetings at Walt Disney World Resort, head to the right when entering the Oasis. Just before the bridge to Discovery Island, guests will find Pocahontas in a beautiful, natural setting that feels perfect for her adventurous spirit.

Zootopia Characters are on Duty on Discovery Island

Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are on the case! Hop on over to The Gathering Spot near the Tree of Life just outside Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

It turns out Zootopia’s busiest crime-fighting duo are also some of the most popular characters at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Guests will want to make sure they plan ahead for a visit with them. Since this is a popular meet and greet, allow some extra time.

Up Characters are Out for Adventure on Discovery Island

While your client is out on an adventure on the Discovery Trails, they might find Russell exploring the trails. His surprise visits don’t always appear in the My Disney Experience app, which means guests will have to be a true Wilderness Explorer to find him.

This is one of the hidden gems, so be on the lookout! For the best chance, enter the Discovery Trails to the left of the Tree of Life just before the bridge to Africa. Guests will also never know when they might see Kevin or Dug roaming around Discovery Island. Kevin’s vibrant colors are hard to miss and be sure to tell your clients to ask Dug if he’s seen any squirrels. With his special voice box, he just might talk to your client.

Ready, Set, Play! Join Bluey and Bingo at Animal Kingdom

While this isn’t a traditional character greeting, it is a one-of-a-kind play experience with Bluey and Bingo at Conservation Station. Hop on the Wildlife Express at Harambe Station near the exit to Kilimanjaro Safaris. Guests can dance with Bluey and Bingo and play games like Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy, and the Octopus Game.

Disney Characters with Unique Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park Outfits

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is the only place your client will be able to see Mickey Mouse and his pals dressed for adventure. Guests can start their day with Donald Duck and Daisy Duck who are dressed for a safari on the Oasis.

After entering the park, guests can head to the right toward Garden Gate Gifts to find them. Guests should be sure to stop by and say hello to Mickey and Minnie who are also donning khakis and their safari hats. Guests will find them at Adventurers Outpost near the bridge to Asia.

As your client makes their way further into the park, they can turn right after they enter Asia and be on the lookout for Goofy and Pluto. If your client loves character photos, they won’t want to miss these unique safari outfits starring Mickey and all of his adventurous pals.
